Strange Days Indeed

We have decided to hunker down in the most gorgeous town of Daylesford.

It was purely a geographic decision with Mr Flashpacker working in Woodend and me in Ballarat.

It has given us the security and stability that we needed. We try and walk through the gorgeous wooded streets or around the Daylesford Lake daily.

Yes, the mornings are cold!

We are visited by Australian birds many times throughout our day. They include Kookaburras, Magpies, Crimson Rosellas, Currawongs, Finchs, Thornbills, Honeyeaters and a King Parrot. Honestly, it’s been our saving grace. We love the beauty they bring and birds are one of our favourite animals.

Kookaburra’s

We miss our kids so much, but we know that there are so many other’s who are experiencing the same things at this strange time we currently live in. You can’t visit your Mum on Mother’s Day, but you can go to a supermarket with over a hundred strangers and that is okay???

Tomorrow is my first Mother’s Day without my Mum and my first without my kids and I want everyone else who is experiencing this also to know that you are not alone, we are all here sharing this moment in time together.

I recently relocated work to Melbourne this week and had to drive to the train station of Ballan. As I turned into the town I was struck by it’s quaintness and was puzzled as to why Mr Flashpacker and I had not visited this town only 25 minutes from Daylesford, and then I recalled….ahhhhh COVID19!

Ballan Railway Station

What a strange world we live in at the moment. My first day in Melbourne since we are in lockdown and the streets were bizarre. Desolate of the usual bustling crowds of city workers hurrying to their office’s.

Melbourne’s Southern Cross Station.
Collin’s Street, Melbourne. Usually crammed with trams and daily commuters.

We try and stay positive, but some days are easier than others.

In the meantime we look forward to getting our adventures underway and continue to dance in our way through life as we currently know it.

Keep your travels and life’s adventures in the forefront of your mind and stay safe.

Love the Flashpackerstravel.

  2. Hi Carol,
    I don’t think there’s a km restriction.
I was/am in Melbourne for work, so that’s definitely within the COVID rules for going there. 😉
