Wow, what a crazy two weeks since our last post.
Over here at flashpackerstravel we unfortunately bought into the fear of our situation a little too much. It was difficult to remove ourselves from the constant news reports, the conversations around us and on social media about this virus.
One of the hardest posts that kept resurfacing on social was the ‘stay home’ memes.
It was hard to read because we don’t have a “home” to go back to. We were floating on cloud 9 three months ago, with seven months of housesits all lined up and in 11 weeks into our new lifestyle all our housesit’s, understandably were cancelled or are put on hold.
Life as we know it, is no more.
It is the first time in our life that we have experienced a pandemic of such enormous proportions and to share collectively with all of you, the same devastating ride of emotions, as we all experience our own hardships.
We are grateful to still have our jobs.
We are grateful to have each other.
We are grateful for the kindness and generosity that has been shown to us by so many beautiful friends. We would never have known just how loving some people have been to us in this time where we find ourselves looking for a place or places to call home.
We are grateful for kind daughters who kept our spirits in check and called us in our hour of need.
This has been the ultimate silver lining in our cloud.
This kindness has given us some hope to move forward with our dreams.
With the late cancellation of two housesits, we sought new accomodation, a Tiny House in Ballarat, Victoria and another in a town called Blampied, Victoria.

The second home is very rustic. It is so rustic that it requires that a wood fire is lit to heat up the hot water. The temperature was sitting around 20 degrees outside, so a little too warm to light the fire!
The kitchen is modest, but they have implemented a gas burner on the outside steps of the home, so we are able to cook most of our meals on here. Still, the setting is absolutely stunning, and we do say that we love a good adventure!

We will leave you with some words of wisdom.
This year our word for the year was “FREEDOM” oh boy, be careful what you wish for because it was true freedom on March 24th when our last housesit required the home owner to come home earlier than expected and we were left with all the freedom in the world. It doesn’t get freer than having no home and no place to return to. 🙂
We made it through another week of COVID craziness.
We hope you and yours are remaining safe and healthy.
Love the Flashpackerstravel xx
